Graduate Internship Scheme - Helping Graduates Help Your Business

In a nutshell

The Higher Education Council for England & Wales has designated over £13million to help university graduates kickstart their careers. Small businesses are being encouraged to employ new talent and will receive generous funding for doing so. In turn, graduates will bring new skills and innovation to businesses across the UK.

How does it work?

Businesses which have full-time positions with an annual salary of £14k+ may offer an internship of a minimum of three months – and will receive £1k towards the salary for this period. The scheme aims to offer graduates an opportunity to take that important first step in their career; and offers businesses an opportunity to employ a keen graduate who can bring new ideas and key skills to their existing team. There is no formal commitment to retain graduates after the internship period, but it is very much hoped that the majority of businesses will wish to do so.

Which businesses are eligible?

Any small business (which employs less than 50 staff) in any sector may apply for internship funding.

Are all graduates eligible?

Graduates with any degree awarded within the past five years will be eligible for internships.
